The Ashari are a multiracial people divided into four tribes:  Air, Earth, Water, and Fire.  Each of the four tribes live in locations where the Elemental Planes begin to bleed into the Material Plane.  The Ashari work to protect the different planes. They use the word "Kaitiakè" (meaning respect, guardian, keeper) as a sort of salute.[1]

Background

Each tribe is ruled by a headmaster.  To become a headmaster, one must first go through the Aramenté[2], or "Noble Odyssey", and visit the other tribes.

The Air Ashari live in Zephra[3], the Earth Ashari live in Terrah,[4] the Fire Ashari live in Pyrah in Othanzia (led by Cerkonos), and the Water Ashari live in Vesrah.[5]

Keyleth is the current headmaster of the Air Ashari and the daughter of the previous one, Korren, since she completed her Aramenté.  The last Air Ashari member that went on the Aramenté was her mother, and she never returned.

Fire Ashari

Vox Machina visited the Fire Ashari during "The Howling Mines" (2x06), where Keyleth underwent a trial as part of her Aramenté.

In 4x02, Lady Allura and Keyleth revealed through a scrying ritual that Thordak had returned from the Elemental Plane of Fire to the Material Plane through Pyrah, completely "decimating" the Fire Ashari in the process.

In "Cindergrove Revisited" (1x46), the Fire Ashari, with the help of the Air Ashari, Vox Machina, and Gern Blanston, were able to seal the rift to the Elemental Plane of Fire.
