Hello, everyone.
Within the next 24 hours, my city will receive a direct hit from Hurricane Irma. At first we thought it would pass us by and we'd just get the edges, but the forecast has shifted over the last few days so now it looks like Irma will pass directly over us. At the moment it's still at the tip of Florida, but those of us in the north can already hear the wind howling.
Irma is currently a Category 4 Hurricane but it will slow down a bit before it gets here, so we're expecting to be hit with winds of 95mph, maybe even up to 110mph. The worst of it will be around midday Monday, but we'll be experiencing hurricane-force winds for about 18 hours, from Sunday night to Monday night. Because my city has a lot of trees and above-ground power lines, there will definitely be power outages everywhere that will last for several days.
I just wanted to let you all know what was going on if I disappeared for a few days. I'll try and check in as soon as I can after the storm passes. Stay safe, everyone.
POST-STORM UPDATE: Hello again! The storm has passed and I'm okay! The power was out for a while—and still is for most of Florida—but my area's back up. Aside from a few tree branches that got knocked down, nothing was damaged. We got really lucky over here.
